Reconciliation Status

Finding where the discrepancy between order and payout can be time-consuming and challenging.That’s why the Blue Onion software looks at reconciliation status in two places to help you easily identify where the break is occurring.

The first type of reconciliation is order reconciliation. We start with the order (or refund) and look for a matching payment in the payment processor. This means that the order is successfully getting passed to the payment processor.


Order Reconciliation Status

An order may be unreconciled because there is no matching payment in the payment processor or because the amounts are different between the order system and the payment processor.If there is no matching payment in the payment processor, it’s worth confirming that the payment processor has been integrated with Blue Onion.

It’s also possible that it takes a few days for the payment to show up in the payment processor (in transit) - we often see this with processors like Afterpay and Affirm.

The second type of reconciliation is payment reconciliation and can be found under Source Data > Payments on the left-hand sidebar.Bank reconciliation status: we start with the payment and look for a corresponding payout in the bank account. This means that the payment is successfully going from the payment processor and ultimately to the bank account.

Order reconciliation status: we also start with the payment and go back to find the corresponding order in the order system.


Payment Reconciliation Status

A payment may have an unreconciled bank status because it is still in transit (so has yet to hit the bank account) or it was never received into the bank account. If there is no matching payout in the bank account, it’s worth confirming that the correct bank account is integrated with Blue Onion.

There may also be a payment without a matching order. In this case, we can see the payment in the payment processor but were not able to connect it back to a corresponding order in the order system.
